In July 2002 Mark Taggart organised a three week Hangliding aerotow expedition to attempt record breaking flights near Avilla in central Spain.

Such was the interest from pilots around the world that in 2003 a seasonal facility was opened and operated by CFI, Chris Jones. While the location proved superb, operating legally within the Spanish aviation system proved too difficult to over-come for longer term success.
